Welcome to WebGalleryMagic ! Version: 1.2.0. Date: 18 September 2002 ******************************************************************************** Release Notes ******************************************************************************** Note: This evaluation version is fully functional and is protected by a Registration Key. Unless the Key is entered, all output images will exhibit a WebGalleryMagic watermark! INSTALLATION You can install 1.2.0 over any old version of WGM. In order to avoid conflicts, please erase any *.stw files and the Uninstall.Dat, then proceed with step 2. If a version previous to V1.1.0 Beta was installed: 1) Please uninstall the old WGM version if you have it installed using the Uninstall menu command in the Start\Programs\WebGalleryMagic menu. Then please manually delete any remaining files on C:\Program Files\WebGalleryMagic. Settings from V1.0.22 will not work in V1.1.0. 2) Run the downloaded installation file and follow the instructions. Note: the standard installer does not not register any files in your registry. The installer does not contain any standard Windows files (DLLs, OCXs and the like) in order not to pollute your system and keep the download file small. WebGalleryMagic should work fine using the libraries on your system. If there are problems, please consult the website www.hi-med.net for further downloads. Please report any problems with the installation. NOTE: In some cases you may get a warning message during startup talking about version mismatch of the settings files. This is normal as I changed the format of the settings files several times. Just follow the instructions. BUG REPORTS If you encounter an issue with WGM, please report it to support@hi-med.net Please always report if possible: - WebGalleryMagic version number - your operating system and RAM size, screen resolution - brief description of what happened SCREEN RESOLUTION WGM has been tested in the following resolutions: 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 and found to work fine. Please bear in mind, though, that it has been optimized for 1024x768. Please report any inconsistencies if you are running a different resolution than 1024x768. WINDOWS VERSIONS WGM will run on all Windows 32-bit operating systems, but not on 16-bit ones. This is normally part of the Internet Explorer installation and should work correctly. In the case you can not see the Help pages (after you hit F1, for instance), please consider updating your system. Please visit http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/htmlhelp/html/hwMicrosoftHTMLHelpDownloads.asp - reworked the user interface to have only 4 Tabs for faster operation - added a "Show Last" button in the Website Design Tab to allow manual showing of the last generated webGallery - increased the size and the quality of the WebGallery template graphics, as well as added new templates - added a "Refresh Catalog" button in the Website Design Tab to allow manual updating of the Catalog - added full registration key features - added thumbnail compression quality selector - ThumbBar: now only loads the visible thumbs for speed. A Site Manager is a tool that takes a local source folder with all its files, e.g. a collection of website files and synchronizes it with a given FTP site directory. According to rules you set using the FTP Profile button, it will then upload, delete and otherwise process the remote FTP site files. The result is an automatically updated website or parts of it each time you change or remove local files, i.e. a syncronization process is started each time you hit the Sync! button, with the local folder serving as a reference to synchronize the remote files. WGM automatically takes your Destination Folder as the source for local files. On the FTP site side, it takes the directory specified in the currently loaded FTP Profile. You can change the FTP site directory as required. Obviously, you can add and remove files individually using the Local and Remote windows as well. - added is a further Website template "TopFrame_TopTitle". The Help will describe how you can add as many templates to the selection as required. KNOWN ISSUES IN THIS VERSION - it is possible to start more than one instance of WGM if the executables are in different folders - the sliders for Width and Height in the Images Tab do not react to Home and End keys properly. PgUp, PgDn and arrow keys work fine. Similarly for the ThumbBar slider - FTP Site Manager may take a long time to recognize that an FTP connection has been dropped. If WGM is connected to an FTP server and appears to be blocked after a longer inactivity period or during an extremely long upload, this is normal. You only need to wait for 15-20 seconds and an appropriate message will appear telling you what to do. - if the screen flickers a lot during resizing (which it does with some graphic cards), you can use Desktop / Properties / Effects and switch off the "show window content while dragging" box - with some W98 systems, thumbnails @ 50 and 80 pixels are not shown - first FTP connect sometimes makes WGM lose focus on screen - sometimes shows “Standard Mode - xxx” in the title even if you are in Express Mode - Slideshow: sometimes the "Start Again " button is not displayed correctly
