Welcome to WebGalleryMagic ! Version: 1.2.0. Date: 18 September 2002 THIS README REFERS TO THE WGMControls V_xxx.EXE INSTALLATION FILE! ****************************************************************** Visual Basic Controls - Release Notes You should make sure to install WebGalleryMagic first! ****************************************************************** WebGalleryMagic uses several Visual Basic components that are not contained in the basic Visual Basic Runtime package. In order for WebGalleryMagic to work, these components (called "Controls") must be present in your system and be properly registered in the Windows environment. These are the controls in question: TABCTL32.OCX MSCOMCTL.OCX MSCOMCT2.OCX You may or may not have these controls already installed. If not, they can be downloaded and installed from the Hi-Med Website. This installation also will install the Microsoft Scripting Library SCRRUN.DLL, version 5.6.0.6626 dated 26 June 2001. If your version of SCRRUN.DLL was older it will be replaced with this one. Finally, Some computers will need to install the Visual Basic Runtime Files which are required for any program made with Visual Basic. They are contained in a file named: VBRUN60xx.EXE and can normally be downloaded from www.microsoft.com. As a courtesy, this file is included at the end of this installer. Before it installs, you will get a message: "Would you like to install the Visual Basic 6.0 run time files?". Answer "Yes" to install and "No" to skip. If you are unsure, chose "Yes" as without this, none of the Visual Basic programs on your computer will work. HOW DO I KNOW IF THE Visual Basic CONTROLS ARE ALREADY INSTALLED? There are two ways: 1) Search for the above files in your System folder. The folder may be named something like the following: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32, or C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32, or C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM, or similar If the files are there, they are also most probably correctly registered. 2) Start WebGalleryMagic. If messages such as "Unable to load last user Settings..", or "Error Number xxxxx: Automation Error..." appear, the Controls are not installed. WHY DO I NEED TO DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL CONTROLS SEPARATELY FROM THE WGM PACKAGE? The reason is that we wanted to keep the download of the WGM package itself light and fast. This download is probably only necessary for W95/98 users and only then if they did not already have these controls installed by other software they are using. INSTALLATION Start the downloaded installation file WGMControls V_xxxx.EXE. It will attempt to install the Controls under the same directory as WebGalleryMagic (typically C:\Program Files\WebGalleryMagic\Controls). Note: You should make sure to install WebGalleryMagic first, and to let the installer install the Controls in the folder where WebGalleryMagic was installed. The installer will create a separate Program Group "WGMControls". REGISTRATION USING Regsvr32 In some cases it may not be enough to run the installation program itself in order to ensure proper operation. You may need to manually register the control(s) using Regsvr32.exe. In order to register, click on "Start" and then "Run". Type: Regsvr32 C:\Program Files\Webgallerymagic\TABCTL32.OCX, if TABCTL32.OCX is the control you need to register. If Regsvr32 is not on your system, you can use the one included in the Visual Basic Controls installer. MOVING THE PROGRAM GROUP (optional) The Controls menu entries will be placed in to a START/PROGRAMS menu entry "WGMControls".If you wish, you can now move the START/PROGRAMS menu entry "WGMControls" under the "WebGalleryMagic" entry for convenience. WIN2K and XP users can simply drag-and-drop "WGMControls" into the WebGalleryMagic" section. Other users should please consult their Windows Help for instructions on editing the Start menu. Since "WGMControls" does not contain any program buttons, this step is not strictly necessary. If you perform it, your menu structure should look something like: Start/WebGalleryMagic/Uninstall /View License Agreement /View Read.Me /WebGalleryMagic.exe /.... /WGMControls/Uninstall Please note that you should not move any files in your "Program Files\WebGalleryMagic" folder as this may render your system unusable. DEINSTALLATION To deinstall, please go to the Start/WebGalleryMagic/WGMControls/Uninstall menu and select Uninstall. Please note that this will also unregister the Controls from the system which may have an impact on other programs. This will not uninstall SCRRUN.DLL.
